One of the things my clients have shared that they appreciate about me is my therapeutic approach. They appreciate that I am honest, direct, empathetic, and non-judgemental and that I work collaboratively with them to meet their personal goals.
I have always been intrigued with what makes people think or behave a certain way. It started while working as a cosmetologist. People loved telling me their stories and I loved hearing them. This connectivity with people of all ages and backgrounds led me to explore the field of social work. Being a social worker has allowed me the same level of connectivity, except now I don’t just give advice. I have the knowledge and skills to provide others with the tools and strategies necessary to cope with life’s challenges. I understand how the mind works and how our life experiences influence the way we think and act. I feel honored to assist people in reaching their goals, as well as creating the happy and peaceful life they deserve.
I have ten years of experience in a variety of settings, with children, teens, and adults. Through these experiences I have also had the pleasure of working with various ethnic backgrounds and cultures. I am a member of the EMDR International Association and the National Association of Social Work. I received my Masters in Social Work from University of Denver and I am a licensed school social worker which has given me firsthand experience with the challenges children and teens face on a daily basis. I have also received advanced training in Dialectic Behavioral Therapy (DBT) and I am a level two practitioner in Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). I am also trained in Play Therapy and am a certified handler in Animal Assisted Therapy.
