Are You in Need of Quality Supervision? My Supervision Group is the answer!
I provide affordable Individual and group supervision to professionals seeking to get their licensure. I enjoy having diverse groups so whether you work in a hospital, school, mental health agency, treatment center, etc., you are welcome. I feel having people who work in different areas of mental health provides additional knowledge and adds richness to the discussions, while still connecting and sharing some of the same issues and/or experiences.
In our supervision groups we will be discussing many topics some in which the group decides upon and some that I feel will promote growth and professional development as well as greater insight about ourselves. Some topics will include; ethical dilemmas, personal cases, self- disclosure, conflict in the work place, interventions, collegial input, relevant articles, self- care, and finally diagnoses and treatment.
Dialectical Behavioral Group (DBT)
DBT helps regulate emotions and provides skills that assist in eliminating self-destructive behaviors. DBT emphasizes taking responsibility for one’s problems and aids them in taking a deep look about how they deal with conflict and emotions. It focuses on four areas, mindfulness, distress tolerance, positive interpersonal skills and emotions. DBT requires regular attendance, participation and work assignments on weekly bases. The work assignments will be from a book as well as worksheets.
Parenting Groups
The parenting groups will help strengthen the bond between you and your child and give you a better understanding of why your child acts and thinks the way they do. In addition, I will provide you with some tools and strategies to use which will promote healthy development through the stages of his/her life. The groups’ structure is casual with personal experiences, ideas from the participants as well as researched based approaches to parenting.
Social Skills Group
Good social skills are of vital importance for your child to have. It helps children navigate through life circumstances while using healthy communication, problem solving, and decision making skills and self- management. Moreover, it allows one to build and maintain healthy relationships. A lack of social skills can be seen in poor peer relations due to a child not being able to read social cues, unsure how to initiate friendships, interpreting a situation differently than the majority of their peers and not being able to adapt or adjust to the situation at hand. In my sessions, I incorporate bibliotherapy (social stories), animal assisted therapy, art therapy, role playing as well as work sheets.
Anger Management Classes (Teens and Adults)
Anger is a natural emotion and we all get angry sometimes. It is the way we act upon our anger which could lead to serious negative consequences. Some actions of uncontrollable anger may result in poor relationships and/ or a loss of relationship, physically hurting oneself or others, loss of a job and involvement with the law. I offer a 6 week group that will teach you the skills to deal with frustrating situations as well as display your anger in an appropriate manner.
